CD-ROM and DVD-ROM Copy Protection
Microforum is pleased to be an authorized dealer/implementer of Hexalock®, which prevents consumers and professional pirates from making useable copies of CD-ROMS and DVD-ROMS. Hexalock® is designed to:
- Protect CD-ROM or DVD-ROM based software from theft by copying to either a hard disk or CD/DVD, using a commercial CD/DVD writer or professional re-mastering equipment
- Use the CD or DVD as a key disk so the original disc must be present in the drive for certain documents to be opened.
- Thwart attempts to obtain unauthorized copies downloaded from the Internet
- Be compatible with consumer hardware configurations, and transparent to legitimate users.
The unique Hexalock® authentication technology effectively prevents re-mastering of CD-ROM and DVD-ROM titles, ensuring users can play only original discs. It incorporates features such as digital signature, encrypted wrapper protecting the content, and anti-hacking software.

- MS PowerPoint presentations (PPS, PPT) for use with the free PowerPoint Viewer (fully embedded presentations only-no linked external files)
- MS Word files (DOC) for use with the free MS Word Viewer
- Macromedia SWF, FLV files for Microsoft Internet Explorer (typically embedded into HTML files), ACDSee v, 5,6,7, Kodak Preview viewers and Director exe files.
- Macromedia Director compiled executables using the following file types: DWI, DXR.
- Picture files (JPG, JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIF, TIFF) for use in Windows Picture Viewer.
- Audio/Video files (AVI, MPG, MPEG, WMV, WAV, WMA, MP3, ASF, SWF) for MS Media Player, WinAmp, DiVX Player, Flash based plug-ins for supported browsers
- Streaming Video/Audio files (RM, SC, SMI, MOV, RV, RMVB) for use in RealPlayer and QuickTime Player applications.
- RTF text files for use with Windows WordPad.
- HTA script files for MS HTA application.
- DICOM (DIC) files for use with DicomWorks and ezDicom applications
